![]() Similar to its typing, this is a strength unique to it that allows it to support those specific team types that Anatan fits on, and Protective Crystal really adds some bulk to this. Crystal/fire is a unique and interesting typing, that allows it to fill a role only it can fill on teams that want that typing. This is a tiny niche that almost never gets used, but it's a real thin it can do. It's then able to threaten it turn 2 with a "faster" Crystal Bite. ![]() This allows Anahir/Anatan to lead in front of Deceit Aura Nagaise, and can use Heat Up on turn 1, as Nagaise doesn't have any hold 0 water options. Right now, it has a few things that make it a consideration: They don't do anything to make Anahir and Anatan an interesting tem to use, or an attractive choice for a team. The most important thing I want to draw attention to about these additions is that they're uninteresting. Restore is also newly available, but it's not only very weak and undertuned, but also available to Anahir. Fiery Soul is now a new addition, but it doesn't use that well, due to being very slow, and having a below-average special attack stat. In the evolution from Anahir to Anatan, it learns nothing new. ![]() The real issue lies in the learnset being fairly underwhelming. However, the base stats are near-identical, and were a major source of problems that Anahir had with being competitive. The design looks great, and the traits are now positive. ![]() The fire/crystal typing is unique to this line, and is cool. The typing remains the same, which is fine. However, upon closer inspection of Anatan, it's a bit disappointing. This is one of the most built-up moments in the entire game, and something that players look forward to discovering as they play. We pick up Anahir over in the Anak Volcano, and, being the only tem with negative traits, it is quite clear that Anahir is supposed to get better in some way later, and, with the addition of 0.8.0, we got that through its evolution in Anatan. I love how it looks, but it's a little disappointing, over all. ![]()
